On January 18, 2013, Cleveland Indians announced they avoid arbitration and signing his one-year contract worth $3.15 million. On November 24, 2013, he agreed to the three-year contract for $15 million dollars with Los Angeles Angels. Then on April 25, 2014, the club named him as the new closer. He finished the season with 15 saves in 76 games of the tune of 1.81 ERA.

The next season was the better for him that his ERA an WHIP from the previous season. However, he was again traded to Chicago Cubs for Jesus Castillo.
