She was once diagnosed with cancer, but caught it in the early stages and survived the ordeal. In 2010, she starred in the movie Kites, becoming the first actress of Mexican nationality to have the lead role in a Bollywood movie.

In 1998, she had a son, Sergio Mayer Mori, with actor Sergio Mayer. She married Jon-Michael Ecker in 2014. Her cousin is popular social influencer Paola Durante.
